Ecotheology Retreat #3 – God as Presence

October 31, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$75

Yellow and mottled grey and black and brown,

We carry her colours, drink from her cup,
The earth we think we own has made us up,
And she will break us down.
-from “Earth to Earth,” After Prayer: New sonnets and other poems

These words from poet, Malcolm Guite, invite us to consider the natural cycle of life on this planet. In a third in the series of Eco-Theology Retreats led by the Naomi Wenger, we focus on the Presence of God reflected in the cycle of life. Jesus’ invitation to “look at the fig tree” (Lk. 21:29) to find the evidence of God’s work in the world (the kingdom of God), is a call to be observers of the world and partakers of its wisdom so that we can also participate in God’s work.

Join us for this day of reflection beginning at 9 and concluding by 4. This retreat will be offered in a hybrid format, allowing folks to be present at The Hermitage or to participate remotely, by Zoom. All participants will receive readings ahead of time and the day will be divided into guided reflection on the readings in the morning, a harvest lunch at midday, opportunity for exploration outdoors (either at The Hermitage or at home) in the afternoon, and concluding at 3:00 with gathering for sharing and a litany of praise.

The suggested donation for this retreat is $75 for persons coming to the Hermitage and includes a lunch from the bounty of The Hermitage garden. The suggested donation for online participation is $45.
