Hermitage Way Retreat – First Love! Supporting the Body of Christ

October 12, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Leaders: Judy Storteboom and Naomi Wenger

“To the church of Ephesus, write: ‘I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance…Yet, I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.'”

Join us for this full day retreat focusing on Practice #9 of The Hermitage Way: “Keepers of the Way commit to support the Body of Christ. We need each other to challenge, encourage and enlarge our understanding. We encourage Followers of the Way to participate actively in a local worshiping community.”

At Pentecost, the gospel was preached for the first time, and the Christian church was born. During this daylong retreat we will  focus on several questions: How did that happen? How has the church evolved since then? How does Pentecost continue to happen today? And how can we reclaim our First Love?

Judy Storteboom has been a Hermitage Waykeeper since its inception. She lives in Kalamazoo above the paint store she owns with her husband, Rodger, and where she works part-time as a bookkeeper. She loves to journal, read, walk, ponder scripture, go on paddle boat rides, and share life with her husband, their 16 grandchildren and their parents.

Naomi Wenger is also a founding Waykeeper, and lives and works at The Hermitage. She is a spiritual director and loves to walk, read, ponder, and write. She supports her local church by preaching once-a-month.

Suggested donation $50-$75, lunch included.
